Zombie Apocalypse Van

Built from a truly horrible snap-together Revell kit from the 70s - this van was originally a Charlie's Angels tie in.   Instead it became a post-apocalyptic zombie van, with metallic paint and deep-pile shag replaced with heavily rusted exterior, scratch built seats in the back and a great big zombie bar on the front.   Great fun to do - and not a Farrah Fawcett blonde flick in sight!...

Jaguar E-Type

This is a build of the huge old Monogram kit form the 1970s and was an original kit that had been started by the owner and then abandoned. The age of the kit posed the usual challenges of age-brittle plastic and poor casting, but overall it is a great kit of possibly the most beautiful car in the world. This build was to match an actual car in the family of the kit's owner, which had been carefully restored and looked magnificent. I was able to get hold of...

Hellenic Rafale

I built this aircraft with Hellenic Airforce markings - which is not a subject I have ever looked at before, but it's actually a really good scheme. The build is from the recent Revell 1/48 kit which is excellent and something of a surprise to me.   It builds really well and is very well thought out - lots of nice detail and really good fit on all the parts.   Highly recommended!...

B-29 Enola Gay

I couldn’t believe my luck when a customer in America asked me not only to build the Enola Gay B-29 for him – but to build it in 1/48th scale!   I always looked at the old 1/72 scale Airfix kit as a kid and wanted to build it – but the bare metal finish and greenhouse cockpit made it an ambitious build and a step too far for me then.   When I started building models again as a (more or less) adult, the kit was high on my list...

Mig 25 Foxbat

This is quite an old model from the 70s, and when you open the box its age really shows – but there is something I really love about this kit…   The Kit The detail is very poor, and although I’m not one of those modellers who compares every dimension with the real aircraft and gets upset if it isn’t spot-on – as I understand it the model isn’t that accurate. That is what I love about the kit though – it is the perfect illustration of how special the...

Supermarine Stranraer

I built this kit after finishing the Sunderland flying boat – so it was prompted by an interest in flying boats and a masochistic desire to do more rigging. This is one of the very few biplanes I have built, but it was fun to do in the same way that poking a mouth ulcer is fun!   The Kit The Revell kit was apparently a reissue of the old Matchbox kit, but the detail and fit is really not bad for a kit of that age. I remember as...
