Thunderbirds ‘Fireflash’
One of the all-time classic Thunderbirds episodes – Series 1 Episode 5 – ‘Trapped in the Sky’. The new supersonic airliner ‘Fireflash’ has a bomb hidden in its landing gear so they can’t land conventionally.
Thunderbird 2 is dispatched for the first time with a cargo of 4 elevator cars so the plane can touch down on them instead.
A magic episode that I remember fondly from my childhood (I was just under two years old when it was released in 1965). It had everything – Thunderbird 2 (my favourite), Lady Penelope, visible strings – and a bomb with a brass plaque on labelled ‘AUTO-BOMB EXPLOSIVE UNIT’.
They don’t make them like that anymore…
